DOES THE POPE WATCH THE 700 CLUB?

Well, probably not. Maybe someone will at least show him this chilling and informative interview with Saddam's bombmaker, Dr. Khidhir Hamza, though. Skip to the 12 minute point for the segment start, the interview starts at 14 min. Here's a low-speed video stream for modem users. If you have problems, or need to use Windows Media Player, go here and click on the March 3rd icon.

It seems the Pope is being deceived by all the professional agitprop for peace, and I'm sure all the liberal Cardinals are feeding him the party line. George Bush is trying to break it to him gently, but it seems he would have to divulge highly classified info to convince the Vatican (yep, Old Europe) now. That will be released after the war starts and we're no longer concerned with Saddam knowing our intel.

UPDATE: I'd prefer not to hear any criticism from bashers of Christian journalists unless you've watched the interview first. I want to at least be thanked before you kill the messenger. I've seen Hamza before too, but not 15 uninterrupted minutes since these latest inspections began. The juxtaposition of the Christian news channel's harsh reality with the Pope's declaration about there being no moral authority for war was intentional. I'm surprised this smart conservative Pope seems to miss the looming danger, and even feels that the brutalized Iraqi people just need to be left alone. After all, he's a high-profile terrorist target as well. Maybe he's just making sure it doesn't look like he's backing a Crusade against the Muslims.

700 Club????
Nooooooooooooooooooo!
Man. You can find similar interviews with the same guy on faaaaar more reliable (and realistic)media sources.
700 Club.
This worries me a little.….…

The Pope’s attitude is a perfect example of Emerson’s “foolish consistency”. In terms of war and capital punishment, he fails to understand the real point of the Commandment about killing. It doesn’t say “thou shalt not take a life”, it says “thou shalt not commit murder”.

In these two circumstances, taking the life of a destroyer is the best way to show that we value the lives of the innocent.

Come on Sylvain, relax. It’s the Pope I’m trying to sway here

Plus, why would you care about the program when it’s an interview with a scientist? The source in this case is Hamza himself, and it’s a brand new excellent 15 minute commercial-free interview.

The interviewer could be Dan Rather and I would still watch it. People really need to get over the old mindset that CBS, CNN, and the New York Times are “reliable” and non-mainstream sources (like internet news sites, Christian news organizations and weblogs) aren’t.

CBN actually had another great segment last month on nuclear blackmail by North Korea. Someone was sharing it on newsgroups along with the BBC/PBS Dirty Bomb documentary.

Open your mind a bit and watch it before you knock it. Heck, even the far-out Moonies hire damn good journalists.

My stance is that that anything christian-based, or any religon for that matter, is hardly reliable.
I’ve heard what this guy has to say before. I’m already on board.
I don’t need .
You want to believe in ancient fairy tales-fine. But it shouldn;t be intermixed with actual news, stuff that affects us here in reality.
I believed him the first time I heard him.
Thanks anyway, but CBN is obviously not for me.

Yeah, Chris, stop forcing poor Sylvain to read this stuff!

<rolling my eyes>

1. You mean fairy tales like the ones found in the Communist Manifesto?

2. What does this report have to do with the religion of the program’s presenters?

It’s one thing to say “consider the source.” It’s another thing to reject the source out of hand solely because of the religion of that source. Or do you reject all Muslim and Jewish and Buddhist, and so on, sources? Like it or not, Sylvain, most people in the world are not atheist, they believe in some version of a “fairy tale” or other. Yet somehow society manages to lurch along fairly efficiently. What a wonder.

Sylvain, you must understand that this entire war is about Islamist radicals and their athiest allies who want to wipe-out Jews and kill Christians while overthrowing the Judeo Christian world order.

So religion or the lack thereof should be left entirely out of the discussion??? Not even one peep (or post) is acceptable?

Of course it’s relevant where Jews and Christians, athiests and communists, and of course Muslims stand in the debate.

Others are onboard with the war as well, but that doesn’t they stop them from continuing to listen to and learn from what people say — especially if it’s a first-hand account.

Sylvain, seriously, you do need to get past your prejudices, however justified you may believe them to be, and accept the possibility that those of us who hold religious beliefs also inhabit the very same world you do, and can study it and comment on it at least as coherently as you can.

“You mean fairy tales like the ones found in the Communist Manifesto?”
I wouldn’t know—I’ve never read it.
But I suppose there’s a similarity.
I guess I should read it so I have a basic understanding of it, as I have the bible.
“reject the source out of hand solely because of the religion of that source. Or do you reject all Muslim and Jewish and Buddhist, and so on, sources?”
Generally speaking, I rarely visit such “sources” but if I do I’ll probably skip it. It really depends on the article. If it’s news told with that religious perspective especially. As with the link in question—I don’t need any more convincing. Some visitors here might, but judging from the comments I usually see here, I doubt there are very many. The fact that it comes from the 700 Club merely lessens the chances of my being interested in viewing it.

“you must understand that this entire war is about Islamist radicals and their athiest allies who want to wipe-out Jews and kill Christians while overthrowing the Judeo Christian world order.”
Yes, the way I see it, this is a religious war. Most wars are.
I wonder…If Abraham could take it ALL back under the circumstances, would he?

“So religion or the lack thereof should be left entirely out of the discussion???”

Of course not. Otherwise I wouldn’t visit here at all! All I’m saying is I am not interested in viewing anything 700 Club puts out.

“you do need to get past your prejudices”
I would argue that I hate all religions equally.
I don’t really understand the rest of that comment.
Anyway-I like a good religious debate once in awhile—I am not an atheist BTW— I’m saying I won’t patronize that site, nor will I the Christian Science Monitor or World Net Daily.
Personal preference is all.
Sorry about raising the Ire here…
ps. I am the first to admit I’m not all that bright. I certainly didn’t mean to sound in any way superior to anyone else.

Pss.
I can’t get past my prejudices.
I can’t really see any religion becoming more than mere Cults in my mind. I consider them all cults, no matter the number of believers any particular one might have.

First letting of pedophile priests then appeasing a genocidal dictator…Catholic Church isn’t having a good year is it?

“I can’t get past my prejudices.”

I know it can be hard, but it’s not impossible. You just enjoy yours too much.
