JOURNALISTS FIRST, AMERICANS SECOND (OR THIRD, OR FOURTH...)

If CBS News had learned the identity and/or location of the Beltway snipers before the cops, what would they have done? Would they have:

A) helped the police catch them before they killed again?

B) nailed down an exclusive interview for the teevee news and then let them go out to kill again?

Based on this story, the answer seems to be B.

First of all, I think it is interesting to hear the opinion of the other side, assuming they are actually the fighters they say they are. That said, why can’t that reporting be left to international journalists, preferably not Al Jazeera or Le Monde… It seems two-faced to hang out with the enemy by day, and expect US soldiers to protect you by night. I also wonder why freedom fighters would wear all white. It makes for nice symbolism but they stand out against just about any background.

What opinion is worth letting a killer walk free? What can we possibly learn from these enemy combatants that we don’t already know? They a) hate America and b) use the Koran to justify their hatred and their murder. Stock terrorist opinions.

And which international press organs would you trust? The BBC? Reuters?

Reality: CBS interviewed men bent on murdering US soldiers and did nothing to help apprehend them. Reality: Terrorist opinions don’t count for anything, as their chosen tactics automatically discredit them. Or should, if you value human life in the slightest.

I frankly find it disturbing and digusting that this reporter spoke to people who have American serviceman blood on their hands and he did not lead a force to them This is not about “another point of view”
