JIMMY CARTER TO HEAD UP N.O. REBUILD?

Tim Roemer can't be serious.

This morning on Fox's "Fox and Friends," former Indiana Democrat congressman and 9/11 commissioner Tim Roemer called on President Bush to name former President Jimmy Carter to the head of efforts to rebuild New Orleans.

Roemer told the stunned hosts: "The second thing we should do is put somebody like former President Jimmy Carter in charge of rebuilding New Orleans."

Well, Carter might be handy if any killer swamp rabbits show up.

If Carter is appointed, we’ll know for sure that George Bush hates New Orleans.

a little off subject…

Now that Brown has been ousted is it too early to begin the sounding bells calling for Blanco’s head? Not to early for me, as it becomes increasing clear that at almost every step in this disaster (pre and post) this women’s utter incompetence contributed to and directly affected the totality of this FUBAR scene. Brown may have been a schmuck, but I guarantee had the LA governor been Haley Barbour we would not have known this, Additionally, I’ll be galled if DEMs use Brown leaving as a TOTAL cover for Blanco.

Let start the call!

I heard the same thing and promptly switched to Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN. I think FOX is slipping badly, they are close to being spineless MSM spaghetti: “All the Views that are Out There”..

Why, Jimmy Carter is quite appropriate… He’s spent much of his life upholding communistic Third World governments. The LA & NO gov’ts clearly qualify.

My information about habitat for humanity is about twelve years old, but I imagine its worse now, not better, so here goes:

Jimmy Carter is famous for trying to reahabilitate his tarnished image by building houses and giving them to the indigent. Visit their website, and look at the list of people falling all over themselves to donate building materials and labor to H for H.

Despite getting the materials for a house for free, and getting cheap or free land to build it on, and getting free volunteer labor, twelve years ago their own figures showed that the houses cost $50.00 per square foot to build.

I was one of those rapacious developers people like Carter like to inveigh against. Well, I built a house the same year for fifty dollars per square foot, with no help from anyone. I paid wages. I employed subcontractors. I purchased my materials. Who did more to help more people?

Someone really should look into that “Charity” I suspect you’ll find lots of administrators making enormous salaries they could never command outside of government or “charity,” and lots of money spread around for political agitation, and very little getting to the end of the charity alimentary canal where the house ends up.

Well, Mr Carter’s presidency was a disaster area.

Heh, someone remembered that Jimmy does house-building on the cheap. _ THAT much he can do competently, I’ll give him. “If I had a hammer”, yadda-yadda-yadda. Since Lake New Orleans has been a Democrat washout, that might want to be the last place for him to show his face. However, if Jimmy wants to get his hammer and build a house, more power to him.

Vote Smarty Jones for governor of LA. At least he’s fast. . .
