Noble Savagery
It's fun to pretend to be an Indian and hang out in a tinfoil sweat lodge--even if you're in Australia. Well, not fun, really, but I suppose it appeals to a certain sort of high-fiber multicultural masochist.
It's definitely not fun to collapse in the sweat lodge and die while your friends do a war dance around you:
...no attempts were made to revive them because the group believed they were having "out of body" experiences. And in fact poor Mr. Cooke was having an out-of-body spiritual experience, though regrettably a permanent one."It was considered by some of the campers that the men might have been astral-travelling, that their conscious selves had left their bodies and that they were deep in a meditative state," she said.
"Given that, it was decided that the group should undertake activities to call them back to their bodies."
Ms Davis said this involved chanting, playing drums and singing.
