Good Vent Coming Up
At the bottom of a post about the latest counterproductive idiocy by CAIR (CAIR threatens bogus harassment lawsuit, water moist, sun to set in west!) Bryan notes an upcoming Vent with Rachel Ehrenfeld. You'll want to tune into that one; her books are great and her problem is a very important one: "Libel Tourism", in which authors and journalists are sued by--well, in this case a sheikh--who travel to England and use their prissy Victorian libel laws to suppress criticism and investigation.
In Ehrenfeld's case, a Saudi Sheikh traveled to England to sue for libel an Israeli-born* writer living in New York. Not a good precedent at all, and I'm anxious to hear what she has to say about it.
Here's Ehrenfeld's site, with links to her books and articles.
Heh--Bryan sent me the raw feed of the interview and I'm listening now. It's long, but good. And it gives alot of background about why no one names names.
At one point Bryan says this is the first he's heard of this story.
He needs to read Junkyard Blog!
*edited. In the interview Dr. Ehrenfeld says she's an American citizen.
